According to the indian-express, Diamond Publications has bought the copyright for a translation into Marathi six months ago. Pashte. “The middle class in this country isn’t aware of this book much. We wanted to propagate this book, and the idea of adventure that it contains, to a much wider audience.” Mina Kinikar translated The Hobbit for the publishing house; the first edition will have 5,000 print runs.
