Das Programm des Tolkien Seminars 2017 steht

Das 14. Tolkien Seminar der DTG steht vor der Tür: Vom 27. bis 29. Oktober 2017 findet es unter dem Titel „Literarische Weltenschöpfungen“ an der Universität Augsburg statt. Es warten über 30 Vorträge auf Euch, aufgeteilt auf drei Vortragsschienen. Dieses Jahr gibt es erstmals zwei Keynotes. Die renommierten Redner sind keine Geringeren als der Biograph John Garth (Tolkien und der Erste Weltkrieg) und Tolkienforscher Gergely Nagy von der Ungarischen Tolkien Gesellschaft. Los geht es am Freitag, 27.10., bereits um 13:30 Uhr mit der Eröffnung. Um 14:00 Uhr startet dann mit der ersten Keynote das Vortragsprogramm.

Gute alte Traditionen

Auch in diesem Jahr gibt es wieder die legendären Abendessen. Am Freitag geht es um 19:00 Uhr in den historischen Ratskeller. Am Samstag treffen sich die Seminarteilnehmer zum Konferenzessen im Riegele Brauhaus. Am Samstag um voraussichtlich 18:00 Uhr werden wie jedes Jahr nicht nur die neuen Publikationen präsentiert, sondern auch die Ehrendoktorwürde der Dwarvish University of the Blue Mountains verliehen.

Das DTG Stipendium

Erstmalig in der Geschichte des Tolkien Seminars hat die Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft ein Stipendium für Tolkien-Nachwuchsforscher aufgelegt. Anlässlich des 20-jährigen DTG-Jubiläums ermöglicht der Verein 2017 sogar zwei Stipendien. In diesem Jahr wird es an Laura Selle und Andoni Cossío Garrido vergeben. Als Seminarbeiträge haben die beiden eingereicht:

  • Sauron’s Pantopticon: Power Discourses of Invisibility and Seeing in The Lord of the Rings (Selle)
  • J.R.R. Tolkien’s Subcreation: Arda Through the Genre of Testimony (Cossío)

Wichtige Informationen

Das Tolkien Seminar steht jedem Besucher kostenfrei und ohne Anmeldung offen. Es sind alle eingeladen, die sich für das Thema interessieren. Man muss weder Student der Universität Augsburg noch einer anderen Uni sein. Jeder Interessierte ist herzlich willkommen. Die dreitägige Veranstaltung findet in den Hörsälen 2, 3 und 4 des großen Hörsaalzentrums der Universität Augsburg statt. Es ist das Gebäude C an der Universitätsstraße 10.

Das diesjährige Tolkien Seminar Programm

Es gibt in diesem Jahr fünf deutsche und 30 englische Vorträge. Dazu kommen die zwei Keynotes, zwei Abendessen, die Präsentation neuer Publikationen und die Verleihung des Ehrendoktors sowie die Abschlussdiskussion und der Ausklang. Es verspricht also ein vollgepacktes, spannendes Seminar zu werden!
