Im Jahr 2005 organisierte die Tolkien Society anlässlich des 50ten Geburtstags des Herrn der Ringe die Konferenz “Tolkien 2005: The Ring Goes Ever On”. Mit über 700 Teilnehmern und Gästen, darunter Wissenschaftler Tom Shippey, Verlyn Flieger und John Garth sowie die Künstler Ted Nasmith und Alan Lee, war es eine der größten Veranstaltungen zum Thema Tolkien.

Daraus entstand ein zweibändiges Werk mit fast 100 Artikeln auf 835 Seiten (421 und 414 Seiten) Paperback. Dieses verkauft die Society nun für £10 + Versand oder auch als PDF. Das Buch ist untergliedert in die Bereiche:
