Das Programm des XV. Tolkien Things vom 11.-14. Juli 2013 auf Burg Breuberg im Odenwald ist schon so gut wie komplett! Es haben sich bereits sehr viele Mitglieder und Gäste mit Vorträgen und Workshops gemeldet, ein bisschen Luft gibt es aber noch, so dass weitere Meldungen / Ideen zum Programm gerne noch an Beisitzer und Thing-Organisator Martin Cuadra-Braatz () gesendet werden können.
Wir stellen Euch nun hier in Kürze die bereits eingegangenen Programmpunkte vor. Auf der tolkien-thing.de Website werden sie dann nach und nach im Detail präsentiert.
Die international renommierten Künstler Anke Eißmann, Jenny Dolfen und Jay Johnstone präsentieren ihre fantastischen Werke zu Tolkien in einer Ausstellung, bei Vorträgen und Workshops auf der Burg. Auch könnt Ihr Euch auf Andreas Schmidt, seines Zeichens Tolkien-Spieleerfinder beim KOSMOS-Verlag und die Band Verus Viator freuen. In Workshops könnt Ihr lernen wie man Met braut und richtig mit Pfeiffenkraut umgeht (Sebastian Kleinen), Likör braut (Beate Krebsbach und Heike Schmidt), Schmuck herstellt (Annika Röttinger), mittelirdische Tänze perfektioniert (Sabine Scheurell) und präzise Bogen schießt (Heike Schmidt). Auch Eure kulinarischen Fähigkeiten könnt Ihr diesmal unter Beweis stellen, beim Stockbrot- und Waffel-Backen mit Martin Cuadra-Braatz. Das Costume Empire steht zu allen Fragen rund um Stickerei und Schneiderei zur Verfügung und Jens Götz & Co. sorgen wieder für Programm für die Kleinsten in Mittelerde. Altbekannte Highlights sind natürlich auch wieder mit dabei, wie etwas Christian Weichmanns berühmt-berüchtigtes Activity Quiz, der Telerin Circle, die einzigartige Long-Expected Party oder die Gasthausreise mit den Hobbits (und Andreas Schax).

Das Thing ist die traditionsreichste, jährlich stattfindende Tolkien-Großveranstaltung in Deutschland. Zu unseren Gästen gehörten in den letzten Jahren die Künstler Ted Nasmith, Cor Blok und Alan Lee, der Tolkienexperte Tom Shippey, die italienische Band Lingalad, Teile des Tolkien Ensembles u.v.m. Wer sich für Tolkien und Mittelerde interessiert und dabei gerne Gleichgesinnte aus aller Welt treffen möchte, wird keine bessere Gelegenheit dazu finden als das Thing.

First programme overview for Tolkien Thing 2013
The programme of XV. Tolkien Thing from 11-14 July 2013 on Castle Breuberg south of Frankfurt is almost complete! A lot of members and guests have already put forward lectures and workshops but there still is a little leeway for further items and ideas which you are very welcome to send over to Martin Cuadra-Braatz ().
We are here presenting a short overview of the already submitted items. You will find a more detailed introduction of each on the tolkien-thing.de webpage (in German) soon.
Internationally renowned artists Anke Eißmann, Jenny Dolfen and Jay Johnstone will present their fantastic works in an exhibition, in lectures and workshops on the castle. You can also look forward to Tolkien games inventor Andreas Schmidt from publisher KOSMOS and the Verus Viator band. In workshops you can learn how to brew mead and the right application of pipeweed (Sebastian Kleinen), how to make liquor (Beate Krebsbach and Heike Schmidt) or jewellery (Annika Röttinger), perfect Middle-earth dances (Sabine Scheurell) or shoot straight with a bow (Heike Schmidt). You can also put your culinary skills to the test by baking bread on a stick and waffles with Martin Cuadra-Braatz. The Costume Empire will be there for all questions pertaining to needlecrafts and Jens Götz & Co. will provide programme for even the smallest persons in Middle-earth. Well-established highlights will of course be part of the Thing, such as Christian Weichmann’s infamous Activity Quiz, the Telerin Circle, Saturday night’s Long-Expected Party or the Hobbit Pub Crawl game (Andreas Schax).

The Thing is the longest-standing, continuously running major event concentrating on the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien, CBE. It started out in 1999 and has seen prestigious guests such as artists Alan Lee, Cor Blok and Ted Nasmith, Tolkien expert Tom Shippey, the Italian band Lingalad and many more.
If you take an interest in Tolkien and Middle-earth and enjoy meeting fellow Tolkien enthusiasts then the Thing is one of the best choices ever. Take part in a truly international event – guest societies of recent years include: Israel, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Sweden, Slovenia, Denmark, Austria and Hungary.
