Tolkien Thing »
The German Tolkien Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been taking place at changing locations due to its increase in participants. It started out with the German Scouts‹ Centre St. George in Cologne, followed by Marienthal Abbey, Castle Hohensolms, Duke’s Castle in Diez and the Scouts‹ Castle Rieneck.
This year we are heading for…
Minas Hersfeld — Tolkien Thing. July, 15./16.-18, 2010
The Thing is the longest-standing, continuously running major event concentrating on the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien, CBE. It started out in 1999 and has seen prestigious guests such as artists Alan Lee and Ted Nasmith, Tolkien expert Tom Shippey, the Italian band Lingalad and many more.
If you take an interest in Tolkien and Middle-earth and enjoy meeting fellow Tolkien enthusiasts then the Thing is one of the best choices ever. Take part in a truly international event — guest societies of recent years: Israel, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Sweden and Slovenia.
This year’s Thing is the first to be »themed«, i.e. there will be a pattern to decorations, events etc. We will be meeting up in a Gondorian Townhouse.
As in recent years we are inviting a sister society. This time it is Bri, the Danish Tolkien Society. Concerts will be given by Caspar Reiff (Tolkien Ensemble) and Kim Skovbye.
What we have in stock for your entertainment — have a look a round.
