DTG round table Baden-Pfalz is inviting you to Tolkien’s 120th birthday party on 7 January 2012 in Karlsruhe, with lectures by Friedhelm Schneidewind and Stephan Askani — and a toast to the Professor!

The party starts Saturday, 7 January 2012 at 8 pm at Café NUN, Gottesauer Str. 35, Karlsruhe.

New Hobbit publications from Klett-Cotta

German Tolkien publisher Klett-Cotta has announced its new publications for the first half of next year. The 75th anniversary of the first publication of The Hobbit and the premiere of ›The Hobbit‹ film are providing for an easy focus, of course.

The Silmarillion with Ted Nasmith illustrations out in German

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Silmarillion with illustrations by Ted Nasmith, already published in 1998 by HarperCollins (new edition 2008) and 2004 by Houghton Mifflin, is now available in a German edition from Klett-Cotta. The »old testament of Middle-earth«, according to Klett-Cotta, was published this month with 45 colour plates in Wolfgang Krege’s translation. The book is priced at 26.95€.
