Das Tolkien Seminar 2011 wird vom 29. April bis 1. Mai an der Universität Potsdam im Neuen Palais (Lindenallee), Gebäude Nr. 9 stattfinden. Das diesjährige Thema ist Tolkien und das Mittelalter.
Der Call for Papers ist herausgegangen und das vorläufige Programm steht und ist zum Download bereit.
Der Eintritt zur Veranstaltung ist frei, eine Voranmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
Anreise:
Mit dem Flugzeug: Von Berlin-Tegel, Bus 109 oder X9 nach Berlin Zoologischer Garten; von Berlin-Schönefeld, Regionalbahn nach Berlin Zoologischer Garten oder Berlin Hbf. S-Bahn oder Regionalbahn von dort nach Potsdam Hbf oder direkt nach Potsdam Park Sanssouci, dem Bahnhof in der Nähe des Universitätscampus. Je nach Verbindung, braucht man ca. 70-90 Minuten für die Überführung von den Flughäfen nach Potsdam Park Sanssouci.
Mit dem Zug: Es gibt viele ICE Verbindungen von allen großen deutschen Städten nach Berlin Hbf. Die Regionalbahn nach Potsdam Hbf oder Potsdam Park Sanssouci braucht 30-40 Minuten. Busse vonPotsdam Hbf (X5, 605 und 695) verbinden die Innenstadt mit Sanssouci Park and dem Universitätscampus. Regionalbahn RE1 hält auch in Potsdam Park Sanssouci.

Was ist das Tolkien Seminar?
Das Tolkien Seminar ist die interdisziplinäre und internationale Tolkien-Konferenz der Deutschen Tolkien Gesellschaft e.V. Seit 2004 veranstaltet die DTG an wechselnden Orten und zu wechselnden Themen dieses wissenschaftliche Symposium, dessen Schwerpunkt auf Leben und Werk von J.R.R. Tolkien liegt.
Die Vorträge des Tolkien Seminars münden in das wissenschaftliche Jahrbuch der DTG, Hither Shore. Die Veranstaltung steht allen interessierten Zuhörern offen, ist aber auf ein wissenschaftlich orientiertes Publikum ausgerichtet. The Tolkien Seminar 2011 will take place from April 29 – May 1 at the University of Potsdam at Neues Palais (Lindenallee), Building No. 9. This year’s topic is Tolkien and the Middle-Ages. You can download the Call for Papers and the preliminary programme.
Entry is free, pre-registration is not necessary.
Travelling to Potsdam:
By plane: From Berlin-Tegel, buses 109 or X9 (express) will take you to Berlin Zoologischer Garten (train station); from Berlin-Schönefeld, take the regional train to Berlin Zoologischer Garten or Berlin Hbf. S-Bahn or regional trains will take you from there to Potsdam Hbf (main station) or directly to Potsdam Park Sanssouci, the train station close to the university campus. Depending on connections, travelling from either airport to Potsdam Park Sanssouci will take around 70 to 90 minutes.
By train: Regular ICE services from all major German cities to Berlin Hbf (main station). From there, regional trains will take you to Potsdam Hbf or Potsdam Park Sanssouci in 30 to 40 minutes. Buses from Potsdam Hbf (lines X5, 605 and 695) connect the inner city with Sanssouci Park and the university campus. Regional trains (RE1) also stop at Potsdam Park Sanssouci.

What is the Tolkien Seminar?
The Tolkien Seminar is the interdisciplinary and international Tolkien conference of the German Tolkien Society, a registered charity. Starting in 2004 it has taken place at various universities throughout the country with annually changing topics placing an emphasis on the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien, CBE.
Talks given at the Tolkien Seminar are usually published in the society’s academic yearbook, Hither Shore. The conference is open to the public but is led by academic standards. Reviews and information on earlier seminars is available on our webseite.
