Neuerscheinung: The Body in Tolkien’s Legendarium

Im MacFarland Verlag ist diesen Monat The Body in Tolkien’s Legendarium: Essays on Middle-earth Corporeality, herausgegeben von Christopher Vaccaro, erschienen. Dazu schreibt der Verlag (meine Übersetzung):

body in tolkienDiese zeitgerechte Sammlung von Essays wird durch das Thema Körperlichkeit thematisch vereint. Ihre theoretische Untermauerung kommt aus der feministischen, Focault’schen, patristischen und heterosexuellen Hermeneutik. Das Buch ist in Kategorien unterteilt, die sich spezifisch mit Transformation, Geist gegen Körper, Diskurs und Quellen beschäftigen. Mehr als ein Essay konzentriert sich auf weibliche Körper und den monströsen oder bösen Körper. Während Tolkiens Der Herr der Ringe für die meisten Artikel zentral ist, behandeln einige Autoren auch den Hobbit, Das Silmarillion und Material aus der History of Middle-earth.

Christopher Vaccaro ist Dozent an der Universität von Vermont, USA. Er hat bereits Werke zu Tolkien und Cynewulfs altenglischem Gedicht „Elene“ veröffentlicht und lebt in Burlington, Vermont.
